 vegitation growth through out wetlands

Monday, June 4, 2012

This will be the last blog post for the 2011-2012 school year. At this point the wetlands has flourished into a green and healthy looking mitigation. With our efforts of transporting sluice sledge and hooker willows into the wetlands; they are starting to take over at a very good pace. New sprouts and extended coverage of the sluice sledge plants is clearly visible with a walk through the wetlands. It has been a great year for the forward progress of restoring the wetlands.

The past few weeks we have ben harvesting willows. The willows grow near the fish hatchery here on campus. We get about 10-15 willow stakes on an average day and plant them out along the bank of the wetlands. We hope to get some pictures so what we are doing can be seen better.

This week was a short week in the mitigation. We are not having school this Friday because of veterens day. We have been diging up slucie sledge and quartering them and planting them in our wetlands. We have moved about 40 slucie sledge plants this week.
